Bach's Literacy Series is back! Register early to reserve your seats!
Bach’s Literacy Series is a musical storytime for young children and their families or teachers. This year features the following story and musical adaptation:
- Duke Ellington's Nutcracker Suite by Anna Harwell Celenza, illustrations by Don Tate. This beautifully illustrated book captures the story of how Tchaikovsky’s iconic Nutcracker Ballet inspired Ellington to modernize the nineteenth century classic for jazz lovers everywhere. His version has become an icon in its own right.
- Duke Ellington's adaptation of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite
Join us on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, at 2 pm in Dixon Ministry Center Recital Hall. The Series features Cedarville’s University Jazz Band directed by Dr. Chet Jenkins. A musical “petting zoo” will follow the performance where children can meet the performers up close and examine the instruments. The event is free, and the first 50 families or classroom teachers who register will receive complimentary copies of both books. This is made possible by the generous support of the School of Education and the Department of Music and Worship. Because seating is limited, register early to secure your seats!
