Cedarville University Heartsaver AED Course

What is an AED?

The automated external defibrillator (AED) is a computerized medical device designed to assist those responding to a heart emergency. An AED can check a person's heart rhythm, recognize a rhythm that requires a shock, and advise the rescuer when a shock is needed. The AED advises the rescuer using voice prompts, lights and text messages. Three AED devices have been installed around campus: in the Fitness Center, the SSC lobby, and in a campus safety vehicle.

Course Description

The American Heart Association's Heartsaver AED course incorporates the most up-to-date, science-based treatment recommendations from AHA's 2005 Guidelines. CPR, AED use, relief of choking in adults and children, and infant CPR and relief of choking will be covered. This course supports the Heartsaver AED course for responders who require a credential for completion, and is ideal for first responders and for students attending the Heartsaver AED course
