Eligibility
Any student who desires to pursue a music degree at Cedarville University is eligible to audition for music scholarships. Scholarships within the Department of Music and Art are awarded to students on the basis of their performing ability. Please read the following guidelines regarding applications and awards.

Applications
Application for scholarship consideration is an automatic process that results from the student's Music and Art Department audition. All students who complete an audition are categorized according to their ability and placed in a pool of eligible recipients. Auditions for the 2008-2009 academic year must be completed by February 22, 2008 if you wish to be considered for a music scholarship.
Awards
At the conclusion of music auditions (February 22, 2008), the faculty of the Music and Art Department will review the audition results of all prospective students. Based on these results, students will be awarded scholarship amounts ranging from no award to mulitiple thousands of dollars for the first year. Amounts of awards will be dependent upon the ability of the students (and the number of students within each category). Scholarship award notifications will be sent to each student by the second week of March.
Other Aid
Most Department of Music and Art scholarships are one-year awards given to entering freshman. Additional funds may become available and are awarded on the basis of financial need and academic performance.
Along with regular music scholarships, we are constantly trying to develop additional ways to help our students. These opportunities include piano, vocal and instrumental competitions with multi-year awards and a performance competition for upperclassmen.
Students with exceptional performing and academic abilities should contact the Music and Art Department and the Admissions Office to determine if other financial aid is available.

Saturday, February 2, 2008
Background and Format
The Cristofori, Gabrieli and Garcia Scholarships were established to offer special scholarship opportunities at Cedarville University for incoming music majors -- either freshmen or transfer students -- whose principal instruments are the piano, voice, or the orchestral and band instruments. The aim of these competitions is to recognize and reward young Christian artists who aspire to a career in music and who respond positively to a competitive environment.
Eligibility
The Cristofori, Gabrieli and Garcia are invitational competitions open to any prospective piano, vocal, or instrumental major who has successfully completed an audition for the academic year 2008-2009 on or before Monday, January 21, 2008 (exceptions to this date can be made for those who have extenuating circumstances, call 937-766-7728), and has been officially notified of his or her scholarship candidacy by the Department of Music and Art. Contestants must have auditioned and been accepted as music majors prior to their competing for the awards on February 2, 2008, and must meet all other criteria for entrance into Cedarville University for the Fall semester of 2008. Questions about auditions or candidacy should be directed ahead of time to Dr. John Mortensen.
