Rooted: Theology for Growing Christians Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 66 ratings

The word "theology," at its most basic definition, means "words about God." We are all theologians since we all talk about God. We all have a theology, and it's either good or bad. Good theology is the system of roots that keeps our tree of faith vibrant and alive. It keeps us grounded, centered, and yet growing. And when we are rooted, we won’t remain stagnant. In Rooted, Medders and Smith make theology practical for Christians who want to grow in their faith.

Rooted covers the most basic and crucial areas of theology: the Trinity, Scripture, redemption in Christ, and eternity. The authors bring the deeper things of God to light, but without the complexities often associated with theological works. Whether you read this book on your own or with a group with friends, you will have a better understanding of theology and why it matters for your life.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

"This book is not for readers who want to play theologian for a few hours. As the title implies, it's for Christians who want to grow." - Russell Moore, President of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission
Rooted is a great primer on the basics of Christian theology--presented in a way that is fresh, accessible, and concise. A great introduction for new believers and a great refresher for those who need to remember why the gospel really is good news." - Trevin Wax, Managing Editor of The Gospel Project
"The moment you say or think anything about God, you're doing theology. Satan knows more theology than you, but he hates what he knows. And he hates seeing you forget about yourself to gaze on your God. In Rooted, Medders and Smith take us by the hand to show us not just theology's importance, but its beauty. Best of all, you can hear them worshiping as they write. I pray you'll worship as you read." -
Matt Smethurst, Managing Editor of The Gospel Coalition

An easy to read, informative, and scripture based overview of Christian theology. Having just finished this book, I am excited to consider this work a great resource in discussing basic Christian beliefs with new and young believers. I have been involved with Young Life and youth ministry for a long time, and this book is a great way to walk with new believers through a lot of topics with clarity that many have trouble comprehending, let alone explaining to someone else. And it was a great read for myself as well. I found it quite refreshing to go through the basics of living life with Jesus, especially the subject of our future resurrection and what awaits us with Christ's return.

I liked this book because it was not as “colored,” or biased as many evangelical books are in our current market.

This is a very basic, simple (don’t confuse that as being shallow) explanation of the trots of Christian faith.

Really let's you know about Christian theology. Seems like every Bible study group I know is studying this book. There are other "rooted" books also.
