About the BS in Sport Medicine Degree

Why Study Sport Medicine at Cedarville?

If you're interested in pursuing a career as an athletic trainer, Cedarville University's sport medicine major is the perfect starting point! With the Sport Medicine + MAT option, your senior year is strategically integrated into the first year of our MAT (Master of Athletic Training) program. When admitted into the MAT program, you'll be able to complete a BS in sport medicine, a Bible minor, and an MAT degree in just five years. Cedarville's athletic training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), ensuring a high-quality education.

While the sport medicine program prepares you for the MAT program, it also provides a strong foundation for pursuing graduate studies in occupational therapy, physician assistant, physical therapy, and other fields. If you choose not to pursue an MAT, you can complete a fourth year in the sport medicine program and graduate with a bachelor’s degree, equipped for graduate school or entry-level positions in the industry. No matter what pathway you choose, you'll gain a deeper understanding of injury assessment, treatment, and more, while learning to serve your patients with Christlike compassion.

What Can I Do With Sport Medicine?

This sport medicine program is specifically designed to prepare you to enter Cedarville’s Master of Athletic Training program. You will also be able to pursue graduate-level education in occupational therapy, physician assistant, physical therapy, and other similar health fields.

With the four-year BS in sport medicine, you will be able to fill entry-level positions in the fitness industry.

Graduate and professional programs and employers welcome Cedarville University graduates each year. It is important to note that some professional career fields you may pursue require additional education, experience, and/or licensure beyond the completion of your Cedarville University undergraduate degree.

Program Curriculum

Building on your core liberal arts and Bible minor courses, you will take a variety of science and health-related courses that are prerequisites for admission to the Master of Athletic Training program.
