Cedarville University accepts accredited coursework that has been taken at regionally accredited colleges or universities as long as the grade earned was "C-" or better. All credit is evaluated on a class-by-class basis and is subject to an academic and equivalency evaluation.
Students should have a minimum combined college cumulative GPA of 3.0 to be considered for admission. Cedarville's admissions committee also considers curriculum, co-curricular involvement, and other factors in the admission decision.
Yes, each transcript is individually evaluated. As a general rule, you must take at least one-third of the courses necessary to satisfy your major or minor at Cedarville. Check with your department advisor to determine your degree requirements.
Credits transferred from other institutions are not used in calculating the Cedarville grade point average. The Cedarville GPA is determined only by what you complete through Cedarville.
Developmental, remedial, and orientation courses are not transferrable and will not count toward your degree.
Cedarville divides the quarter hours by 1.5. For example, if you have earned five quarter hours, they will be converted to 3.33 semester hours.
An official evaluation of your transfer credits will be completed after you have been accepted to Cedarville and have had official transcripts sent from each originating source.
Undergraduate students are classified according to the number of semester hours transferred.

Transfer students begin the registration process in mid-April for the fall semester and in late-November for the spring semester as long as the reservation deposit is paid. Late applicants are registered at the time the
reservation deposit is paid. Complete information and registration instructions will be sent to you after you have been accepted and have paid the reservation deposit.
Policy Statement
The Associate Registrar for Academic Advising and Transfer Services at Cedarville University will identify those institutions from which credit can be transferred and determine whether course work is college level. If questions arise with regard to transfer of specific courses, this person will confer with the appropriate college or departmental faculty. The following will apply.
- Credit for course work taken at other institutions will be transferred subject to the following considerations:
- the mission of the institution from which credits would be transferred;
- the comparability of the course work with Cedarville University course work; and
- the appropriateness of the course work for meeting degree requirements at Cedarville University.
- Cedarville University will not accept any transfer course with a grade less than a “C-”. Credit is not transferred from specialized or proprietary institutions, military training, or industry-based education programs.
- Credit granted by another institution for nontraditional experiences, College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) is annually re-evaluated for content and comparability. Evaluation is based upon the standards set by those in academic leadership at Cedarville University and standards are published by the Office of the Registrar.
Transfer credits become applicable to a Cedarville University degree program at the point of the student’s matriculation as a degree-seeking student. An evaluation of the transfer credits is provided to the student and their academic advisor.
