ELLIV Celebrates Best of Cedarville
Cedarville's annual ELLIV awards show will take place on April 30.
Cedarville University students, faculty and staff can expect great music, laughs and myriad surprises at this year’s ELLIV campus awards show. The annual awards show will celebrate its 16th year when doors open at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, inside the Doden Field House.
ELLIV is the largest student-run event of the year, as more than 100 students prepare the three-hour event. Similar to the Oscars, ELLIV combines comedy and high-energy musical performances while handing out awards such as best face swap, dynamic duo, funniest flashback, inspiring athlete and unsung hero.
The event is a perfect example of students working together to celebrate the campus community and provide a top-notch awards show to recognize the very best of Cedarville.
“Every event on campus involves students in some way, but ELLIV is different,” said Dan MacDougall, assistant director of student life programs. “This is an event that is student-run at literally every level. The performers, hosts, directors, designers and every other primary area of responsibility are run by students.”
ELLIV will be unique from previous years because it will be held in the Doden Field House, as opposed to the Jeremiah Chapel where it is traditionally held. The Jeremiah Chapel is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation project, which necessitated the move to the Doden Field House.
With a much larger open area, the field house will allow the student leaders and Cedarville’s production services group to design a completely new experience for students.
ELLIV also gives students a chance to dress to impress, as many attend the event in formal dress, while others choose to attend in costume as superheroes or celebrities. As is tradition, the names of the hosts, performers and award winners are kept a secret until the night of the show.
“We want the students to be excited for what’s to come,” said Jill Willert, a junior psychology major from Clarence, New York, and event director for Elliv. “We strive to create an experience that hits all the senses and gives students an evening of pure excitement.”
Tickets for ELLIV will go on sale on April 20 in the upper level of the Stevens Student Center. Tickets will be sold for $14 for general admission seating or $16 for early-entry seating.
