Greg Gilbert Opens Academic Year at Fall Bible Conference
Greg Gilbert to speak at Cedarville's annual Fall Bible Conference, Aug. 22-25.
Greg Gilbert, senior pastor of Third Avenue Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky, will speak at Cedarville University’s annual Fall Bible Conference, August 22-25. The four day event will be held in Cedarville’s newly-renovated Jeremiah Chapel, which received a $3 million upgrade this summer.
As the first chapel speaker of the year, Gilbert has the opportunity to help set the tone for the 2016-17 academic year. His six sermons will focus on helping college students defend their faith.
“It used to be that, when I was growing up as a kid, you could pretty much count on everyone around you to know something about God, about Jesus, about the Gospel, even about the Bible,“ said Gilbert. “These days, though, that’s just not true.”
Since a growing number of people don’t understand anything about who Jesus is, Gilbert sees that lack of knowledge as an opportunity for Christians to meet culture at an elementary level and present the basics in a compelling way.
“We’ll be talking about how you can better understand the Gospel, and how you can share it with a fallen world,” said Gilbert.
After completing his undergraduate studies at Yale University, Gilbert spent time serving at several churches before pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to his current position, Gilbert has teamed up with D.A. Carson, Kevin DeYoung, and J.I. Packer to author, co-author, or contribute to several books and study guides.
Live video and audio of Gilbert’s messages, and all other chapel messages throughout the year, can be found at cedarville.edu/chapel.
