Spring Career Fair Will Benefit Students
Cedarville's spring career fair, one of the region's largest, will feature nearly 100 employers.
Opportunities to secure jobs or internships are expected to be available during one of the largest career fairs in Greene County when Cedarville University hosts the event March 16 from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The fair will be held in the Doden Field House.
The career fair is free and open to the public. Employers wishing to attend can register at cedarville.edu/career. Students and the general public can register for the event at the door, but are also encouraged to preregister by emailing career@cedarville.edu.
According to Jeff Reep, director of career services at Cedarville University, individuals representing 100 companies are expected to attend. Each representative will interact with — and possibly interview — attendees. Some of the nation’s top companies, including Cummins, Honda, LexisNexis, Northwestern Mutual, Reynolds & Reynolds, Rite-Aid, Speedway and Walgreens will seek future employees.
In addition, representatives from the FBI, Ohio Attorney General’s Office and the Ohio State Patrol are slated to attend, as are recruiters from the U.S. Army, Navy and Marines. There will also be a variety of ministry organizations and graduate schools on hand.
“It’s becoming harder and harder to find opportunities to interact with representatives from a company with so much of the hiring process being done online,” said Reep. “This is a great opportunity for our students and individuals from the community to meet and interact with a large number of organizations in one location.”
Cedarville has hosted career fairs on a regular basis for more than 20 years. This legacy of helping college students meet prospective employers has led to a strong job placement rate for the university. Cedarville’s career placement rate is currently 97.2 percent. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the national average for six-month placement rates was 90.2 percent for the class of 2014, the most recent data available from the NACE.
In addition to providing one-on-one time with recruiters at the career fair, Career Services also holds a variety of workshops throughout the year to help students prepare for interviews, create resumes and much more.
Located in southwest Ohio, Cedarville University is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist institution with an enrollment of 3,711 undergraduate, graduate, and online students in more than 100 areas of study.
