Career Fair for Dayton-Area Healthcare Students

Cedarville University’s Nursing and Pharmacy Career Fair will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1, from 5-7:30 p.m. in the Health Sciences Center on campus. Any nursing or pharmacy student in the Miami Valley are welcome to attend.

The career fair is specifically planned as an evening event so students, some who are away on clinical rotations during the fall and spring career fairs, can attend.

“The upcoming nursing and pharmacy career fair is a unique venue where our students can enhance networking skills while potential employers are introduced to the high caliber students enrolled in our programs,” expressed Angelia Mickle, dean of the school of nursing and associate professor of nursing. “We are hosting the fair in the Health Sciences Center so employers can gain insight regarding our state of the art technology and resources.”

There are 20 employers and residency programs registered to attend the fair, including the Cleveland Clinic, Dayton Children’s Hospital, Kettering Health Network, CareSource, Fruth Pharmacy, Walgreens, Mercy Health, Meijer, Lima Memorial Hospital, Grandview Hospital in Dayton and Rite Aid.

“A key benchmark for any program's success is the career potential of its graduates,” explained Dr. Marc Sweeney, dean of the school of pharmacy and professor of pharmacy practice. “We are fortunate to have a 100 percent job placement rate for our graduates and continue to attract interest from a wide range of employers. Our annual career fair is an important event in cultivating opportunities for our students.”

Along with employers and residency programs, 15 Cedarville pharmacy alumni will be returning for the fair to participate in a first-ever pharmacy alumni panel. There will be three panels total, lasting 20 minutes each and providing students the opportunity to ask questions about pharmacy careers in hospitals and community and specialty pharmacies as well as residencies and fellowships.

“It will be a more informal environment, where students can ask questions about careers in pharmacy and hear first-person accounts of what various fields in pharmacy are like from people who they are familiar with and have been in their shoes,” described Dr. Josh Willoughby, Cedarville alumnus and PGY-1 community pharmacy resident at Rocking Horse Community Health Center in Springfield, Ohio.
