Cedarville women's ministry takes on insecurity
More than 100 Cedarville female students will attend “Masked,” a Sanctify Ministries event to teach students about dealing with insecurities and their identity in Christ.
Cedarville University’s Sanctify Ministries is hosting “Masked,” an event to help women deal with insecurities and the “masks” that they wear.
More than 100 female Cedarville students are expected to attend the free event on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. in the Center for Biblical and Theological Studies. Attendees will make homemade facial masks, as they learn what it means to deal with insecurities and find their identity in Christ.
Madison Bowser, a senior psychology major from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, is the main speaker for “Masked.” She will share her journey of living with a mask and how God helped her to settle those insecurities.
“Our goal through this event is to start a conversation,” said Tara Winter, coordinator of testing, licensure and accreditation for the Cedarville's school of education. “The ladies can begin to talk about their insecurities, but also focus biblically on what the Bible says about their identity in Christ.”
According to Winter, who has served as Sanctify Ministry adviser for eight years, the idea for “Masked” came as the Sanctify Ministries women discussed key issues that women experience on campus. Authenticity and women’s identity in Christ were among the main issues, so “Masked” was created to as a response.
Sanctify Ministries has served the women of Cedarville University for more than 13 years. Sanctify hosts four campus events each year to give women a holistic understanding of biblical purity. Members of Sanctify also lead purity retreats for girls in grades 6-12 at local churches.
