Cedarville Stories Podcast: Jesus is the Messiah
Dr. Michael Sherr, Chair of the Cedarville University Department of Social Work, grew up in a conservative Jewish family, but throughout his childhood, he had questions.
At 23 years old, Michael lost his grandfather, and several months later, his mom passed from colon cancer. The bigger questions of life began to surface for him: Is there a God? What’s the purpose of life?
“I just decided one day to open up a Bible,” he shares in the podcast. “I prayed, ‘Lord, teach me what you want me to learn.’ I’ve been doing that every day since.”
For Michael, the Gospel and the Word of God are the lenses through which he evaluates and interprets everything, from the impact of the current COVID pandemic to the way he conducts research and teaches.
“Jesus is the Messiah,” he says. “That honestly is the only thing I would say is completely and utterly true. That and the authority of Scripture.”
