Cedarville Stories Podcast: Thankful for Biblical Community
During this Thanksgiving week, one thing is very clear: Derrick Green is thankful for biblical community.
Derrick’s first time on campus was the semester he started classes. A church friend of his family, who also served on the Cedarville board of trustees, convinced Derrick and his parents to give Cedarville a try. When Dr. Jim Phipps affirmed his commitment to watch out for Derrick, his mom and dad had the peace they needed. Dr. Phipps ended up becoming Derrick’s campus dad.
As a professor, Derrick started out at Kansas State University, but then returned to his alma mater in 2002. He has been a committed faculty member, devoted friend, and caring mentor, returning the gift that he received when he was student. Students, faculty, and staff are thankful for that.
“Every day that I pray for my students, I always pray for the challenges they’re facing,” he said. “But I always include in that prayer that God would bring other believers around them that they may be able to experience biblical community. That is what really gets me excited.” And full of thanksgiving.
