Cedarville Stories Podcast: Waiting for the Blessed Hope
Donna VanLiere has experienced tremendous joy in her life as a wife, mom, and bestselling author. But during this season of celebrating Jesus' first coming, it's the promise of his second advent that brings her the greatest hope.
Her latest Christmas book is The Christmas Table, pictured to the left.
Donna obviously loves to write, but the greater loves in her life are her husband Troy, and their three kids: Grace, Kate, and David. All three children were adopted: Grace and Kate from China; David from Guatemala. Writing bestsellers comes second to being a mom, in Donna’s book.
Donna’s most recent title, The Time of Jacob’s Struggle, takes her into new territory writing fiction based on biblical prophecy. She was prompted after realizing that it had been many years since she had heard a message in church about the second coming of Christ.
In this year marked by fear and anxiety, Donna is comforted and emboldened by the fact that God’s faithfulness to fulfill His promises, which includes the return of Jesus, is a rock-solid foundation for peace and hope.
“I wish people would go into the Word, and say, ‘I know these are hard truths, but Jesus said these days would come; Jesus said there would be pandemics, there would be plagues,’ but He also said, ‘When you see these things begin to happen, lift up your head, look up, because your redemption is drawing near,’” Donna shares during the podcast. “Troy and I both had COVID. We’re still here, and I still know that things are looking up. I’m still looking for a blessed hope.”
