#GivingTuesday to Unlock Extra Gifts on December 1
Generous donors will match Giving Day donations to increase the impact on scholarships and programming.
To prepare for the annual global giving day, generous donors will match Giving Day donations. This generosity will help expand the impact of this fundraising day.
The global initiative #GivingTuesday was created in 2012 to encourage charitable giving at the beginning of the holiday season. Since then, billions of dollars have been given online to nonprofit organizations in the United States.
Although this year’s #GivingTuesday campaign at Cedarville will look different and will not include an in-person Christmas tree lighting ceremony, Cedarville still seeks to raise funds to support their students in the midst of a pandemic.
This year, generous donors have pledged $100,000 to match and challenge alumni, parents, and friends. The first $40,000 raised will automatically be matched by $40,000 from one generous donor. The remaining $60,000 will be unlocked when participation challenges have been met. There will be $25,000 unlocked when 300 donors make a gift; $15,000 when 125 alumni make a gift; $10,000 when 100 parents make a gift; and a faculty and staff donor challenge can unlock up to $10,000 when 75 donate.
Last year, Cedarville raised $1,065,866 from 329 donors on Giving Tuesday.
“#GivingTuesday at Cedarville is focused on the Cedarville Fund, but gifts can be designated to other important endeavors,” said Angie Bartel, director of annual giving. “The Cedarville Fund supports scholarships, tuition reductions, chapel and Bible minor programming, academic initiatives, and campus upkeep and improvements.”
With the matching challenge gifts, a gift to the Cedarville Fund this #GivingTuesday will have double the impact. Gifts will help ensure a Cedarville educational experience is more affordable and accessible to all and will make a big difference in the lives of Cedarville students.
