Half-Million Raised During Cedarville's #GivingTuesday
518 donors contributed $555,575 to help fund student scholarships.
By every metric, Cedarville University benefited from a successful #GivingTuesday virtual fundraising event on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
Specifically, 546 donors contributed $566,105 to help fund student scholarships.
"We are humbled by the number of alumni, parents, friends, faculty, and staff who participated in Giving Tuesday at Cedarville University,” said Dr. Rick Melson, vice president for advancement at Cedarville University. “Cedarville donors continue to blow us away with their generosity and desire to provide students with an excellent education. The outpouring of generosity will have a tremendous impact on Cedarville students."
At the outset of the one-day virtual event, the university set a goal of 300 donors and $250,000 raised. Both goals were surpassed, representing a continued confidence in the quality of education at Cedarville University.
A key reason for the financial success was the generosity of several donors who offered to match $200,000 in contributions, including one gift of $100,000.
"As a 1986 graduate of Cedarville, I know personally how Cedarville can change lives,” said John J. Sargeant, the 500th donor during #GivingTuesday. “I give annually so that young men and women can continue to have what I had, an excellent Christ-centered education that prepared me for a successful future."
