A Busy Summer on Campus
School is out for the summer, but that doesn’t mean Cedarville University’s campus is quiet.
School is out for the summer, but that doesn’t mean Cedarville University’s campus is quiet.
In fact, quite the opposite is true, as a steady stream of guests attending various camps has visited Cedarville University this summer. According to Brian Burns, director of campus experience, more than 15,000 people are expected to attend a camp or event at Cedarville while the university’s student body is home for summer break.
What types of camps is Cedarville hosting this summer?
At the core of the camp program are 14 academic and five athletic camps that are directed by Cedarville faculty, staff and coaches. The athletic camps include basketball and soccer for boys and girls and volleyball for girls.
The academic options feature programs from Cedarville’s academic curriculum, including art and design, criminal justice, engineering, music, psychology, writing and worship.
The campus experience team also hosts several ministries and organizations for personal, spiritual and professional development programs. Christ in Youth of Joplin, Missouri, brought 2,200 youth and leaders to campus in late June to enjoy the benefits of Cedarville’s campus.
Other organizations sending large groups to Cedarville include Lifeway (1,500), Crossroads Church of Cincinnati, Ohio (1,000) and the Southern Baptist Churches of Ohio (400).
The campus is booming with activity right now. This activity will only increase in the next four weeks as Cedarville students will come to campus to begin their studies in the 2022-23 academic year.
