To reignite a passion for nursing during a national decline, Cedarville University’s School of Nursing (SON) is recognizing and celebrating nurses during National Nurses Week, May 6-12, by hosting an inaugural 5K on May 10 at 8:30 a.m. The event is open to the public, and runners can register online or at the event.
The 5K will be held at Cedarville University’s cross-country course, which is located off S.R. 72 across the street from Cedarville’s campus. Individuals living a distance from Cedarville can participate in the virtual 5K. The entry fee for either the virtual or in-person 5K is $30, which can be paid online or at the event.
Proceeds from the event will help fund future Global Outreach mission trips for nursing students. These trips enable nursing students to take their skills to minister to people throughout the world. The 5K will function as an extension of the SON’s “walk humbly with your God,” “interconnectedness” and “nourishing your body” (WIN) initiative. This initiative seeks to produce a culture where nurses flourish in their career as they recognize the reality of burnout and the importance of wellness in their lives.
“Our goal for this event is to celebrate nurses, and we want to bring in our alumni as well as those in our online grad program,” said Dr. Angie Mickle, dean for the school of nursing and associate professor of nursing.
