The Cedarville University Board of Trustees met January 26-27, 2023, amid a season of unparalleled enrollment growth and record fundraising. New academic programs are also on the horizon that will continue to attract Christian graduate students seeking a high-quality, biblically faithful degree.
At the January meeting, university leaders celebrated a positive report of the $125 million One Thousand Days Transformed: The Campaign for Cedarville; approved the budget for the 2023-24 academic year, and affirmed new faculty hires and tenure and promotions.
The university’s fundraising campaign, which was publicly launched in October 2021, has already received financial commitments of $121 million toward the $125 million goal.
Currently, construction of the 65,700-square-foot Scharnberg Business Center is underway, and fall 2024 is still the expected completion date. The center will be home to the Robert W. Plaster School of Business, and it will be the hub of the university’s business, cybersecurity, free enterprise, and communication programs.
2023-24 Budget
Cedarville’s approved budget of $119.7 million is a 7.7% increase from the previous year’s budget. Tuition for undergraduate students will increase 4% to $35,878.
The trustees also approved a $198 per year increase for students living in a residence hall and a $190 boost in food charges. The 2023-24 cost for food and housing will be $9,094, a 7.6% increase, which remains one of the lowest food and housing rates among Ohio’s colleges and universities. According to the Ohio Department of Higher Education, the average food and housing charges increased 27.1% in 2022 to $12,401.
