Being Published After His Death, Warren Wiersbe's Last Work Honors Faithful Ministry
More than five years after Warren Wiersbe’s death, the Warren and Betty Wiersbe Library and Reading Room will be completed with the addition of his final book, “Becoming New: A 100-Day Journey of Transformation through God’s Word,” a posthumous work that releases on November 5.
Dr. Warren Wiersbe, renowned Bible teacher and author of the “Be” commentary series, wrote more than 170 books and collected a personal ministry library of nearly 14,000 volumes. Much of that library is housed in the Warren and Betty Wiersbe Library and Reading Room at Cedarville University, where professors and students continue to learn from his ministry.
The ceremony to receive this book begins at 3:00 p.m. in the Center for Biblical and Theological Studies (BTS). Immediately following the ceremony, Jacobsen will sign books near the Wiersbe Library and Reading Room in the BTS.
“Cedarville University was blessed by Dr. Wiersbe when he donated his personal library to benefit our students and faculty,” said Dr. Thomas White, president of Cedarville University. “Dr. Wiersbe was a friend and supporter of our mission to proclaim the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. The Wiersbe library and reading room is a testament to this partnership.”
“Becoming New” is based on a previously unpublished Wiersbe manuscript that was discovered by his family. Jacobsen, pastor of Heartland Community Church in Olathe, Kansas, dedicated two years to preserving the original writings and seamlessly completing this work, a process he recently described on the Cedarville Stories Podcast.
“My grandfather’s heart was to always share that Jesus is the hero, and this book is the capstone of his work in proclaiming that truth,” said Jacobson. “And because he had finished so much of this project, you will hear his voice pop off of every page.”
The book is a culmination of Wiersbe’s lifetime of biblical study, thoughtfully synthesized and distilled for any Christian to embrace and deepen their love for the Lord.
“This is not a typical devotional book,” writes Wiersbe in the preface. “It focuses on one theme — the daily transformation of your life and world though the truth of God given by the Holy Spirit of God … The emphasis is not only on learning the Word but also loving the Word and living it in the power of the Holy Spirit.”
The Warren and Betty Wiersbe Library and Reading Room is located on the campus of Cedarville University in the Center for Biblical and Theological Studies. It is open daily for use by faculty, staff, students and friends of Cedarville University.
