A shared mission and location are responsible for a growing relationship between Cedarville University and Answers in Genesis(AiG). These two unapologetically Christian organizations, located less than 100 miles apart, share the common goal of upholding Scripture’s authority.

Cedarville is one of only three Christian universities recognized as an official Creation College partnerwith AiG. Creation Colleges embrace biblical authority and a young Earth view of creation.

The Creation College designation helps Cedarville attract students who are looking for a university that teaches every subject through the lens of the Bible. It also provides for a perfect internship partnership between the two organizations.

Just a few months ago, six Cedarville students participated in the Embark Answers Internship Program. This program provides students from a wide range of academic programs with real-world professional experience with AiG.

Crissa Esse, a senior from Southgate, Michigan, who is majoring in professional writing and information design, was selected for a content writing internship.

“Being able to do an internship with Answers in Genesis was an answered prayer and something I’d dreamed of since high school,” said Esse.

The internship was life-changing for Esse. “I loved the community and being able to learn from experienced professionals,” said Esse. “The AiG team was very helpful, and it was obvious to me that they loved the Lord and His Word just as much as the community at Cedarville.”

Esse was joined by five other interns from Cedarville University, including seniors Rachel Maske (Arvada, Colorado), majoring in management, Emilie Smith (Madison Heights, Virginia), majoring in chemistry, Jason de Mets (Abington, Pennsylvania), majoring in broadcasting, digital media and journalism. Ellie Estrema, (Colorado Springs, Colorado), majoring in professional writing and informational design also completed a summer position as a social media content creator. In addition, two 2024 graduates, Samuel Swenson (Newport, Vermont), who earned a degree in industrial and innovative design, and Grace Gregory (Downers Grove, Illinois), who earned her degree in visual communication design, were also a part of the internship program.

Estrema wasn’t sure where she would take her skills after college, but her AiG experience confirmed her calling to social media management as a career.

“I knew that I wanted to do social media for a company I loved and trusted,” said Estrema. “Working at Answers in Genesis taught me that if you love what you do, it truly doesn't feel like a job.”

Both Esse and Estrema are currently working part-time jobs at AiG as they complete their senior year and continue the growing bond between two institutions committed to God and the authority of scripture.
