Lights, Camera, Faith: Cedarville Student Interns With Sight & Sound Films
The opportunity to transform the culture through Christian movies is what motivated Parren Carnahan, a senior broadcasting, digital media, and journalism major from Cedarville University to intern with Sight & Sound.
From theatrical productions to the silver screen, Sight & Sound Theatre is transforming the way faith-based stories are told.
The opportunity to transform the culture through Christian movies is what motivated Parren Carnahan, a senior broadcasting, digital media, and journalism major from Cedarville University to intern with Sight & Sound’s productions office earlier this year. The Rochester, New York, student believes this experience has instilled in her a greater passion to work in the Christian movie industry.
The internship afforded Carnahan the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals in pre-production on the upcoming feature film, “A Great Awakening.” This film, which dives into the story of an unlikely friendship that resulted in a defining moment in American history, will be released in 2026.
“Being there to actively witness everything coming together after we spent so much time planning was really cool and encouraging,” said Carnahan. “I’m really excited to see how the final movie turns out.”
As Sight & Sound Films continues to bridge the gap between faith and the often-secular film industry, interns like Carnahan are being trained to continue the upward trend of excellence in the industry. Having contributed to “A Great Awakening,” Carnahan leaves with valuable lessons and a sense of accomplishment, ready to turn her passion for storytelling and love for Christ into a lifelong career.
