Nurses are the heart of healthcare. They serve on the front line for patients and families who are enduring medical adversities.

Dr. Marcia Williams has taught in the Cedarville University School of Nursing since 2021. Her expertise in oncology, labor and delivery paired with her experience as the MSN clinical placement coordinator prepared her for a new role at Cedarville: associate dean and director of graduate programs.

“Since the day she accepted the position, Marcia has quickly proven to be a valuable member of the graduate program,” said Dr. Angie Mickle, dean of the school of nursing. “Marcia brings a vast academic experience and credentials in her new role, and I am confident that her expertise, energy and genuine love for our students will strengthen our program and enhance the learning opportunities for our students.”

While earning her doctoral degree in nursing from the University of Utah, Williams began her advocacy for postpartum maternal mental health. Her research in maternal mental health has helped reduce the stigma surrounding postpartum depression and amplified women’s voices everywhere.

As the associate dean and director of graduate nursing programs, Williams is expected to continue helping Cedarville nursing students through practical experience and personal relationships.

“What I love the most about working at Cedarville is the opportunity to give back to the students and help Cedarville fulfill its mission,” said Williams. “I want to equip students with the ability to practice with excellence, teach with confidence and improve care for patients.”
