Embracing Purpose: The Journey of Brigadier General Todd Fogle
Brigadier General Todd Fogle’s life is a testament to the power of faith and resilience. Reflecting on his journey, he emphasizes the importance of recognizing one’s purpose, rooted in God’s guidance and direction. Now a Cedarville University alumnus, General Fogle had initially hesitated to attend Cedarville, yet God had wonderful plans in store for him there. He met his wife during his first week, and from that moment, Cedarville became a transformative home, fostering deep connections and a love for its community in General Fogle.
With a physics degree and a biblical minor, General Fogle found a strong foundation for his career. As a leader in the Air Force, he achieved the remarkable distinction of becoming a Brigadier General — an honor that fewer than one in a thousand airmen attain. His service has taken him to 98 countries, and he has served on significant missions, including the longest low-level flight in history, where he witnessed God’s providence at work.
Family plays a crucial role in General Fogle’s story. He attributes much of his success to the unwavering support of his wife, Johanna, and their three children. Their adaptability and resilience in navigating military life have been inspiring.
The relationships and activities General Fogle took part in outside of academics were instrumental in shaping his character and leadership skills. He encourages current students to fully engage in their time at Cedarville, embracing opportunities to grow and serve. With a commitment to living out his faith in every aspect of life, he reminds us that God has a unique purpose for each of us that is just waiting to be discovered.
