2024–25 ROTC-Funded Scholarships

Note: This information is valid for new students entering Cedarville in 2024–25.

Four-year scholarships are available to students currently in high school. Two- and three-year scholarships are available to students already enrolled in college. Most scholarships cover full tuition, course fees, and books. Scholarship students also receive a monthly stipend for living expenses. An application is required to be considered for one of these scholarships.

Students who are eligible for ROTC scholarships may use those scholarship awards in combination with their institutional awards from Cedarville for direct university charges. Students will complete the application process directly with ROTC.

There may be instances where a ROTC recipient will have other institutional scholarships or grants. Cedarville University seeks to use institutional funding wisely in order for other students to receive funding. Thus, in cases where a student's total financial aid is above direct University charges, Cedarville will reduce other forms of institutional gift-based aid. The examples below show how institutional gift-based aid will be reduced in these instances:

Example 1: Derek is awarded Cedarville University scholarships and grants that total $13,500. Derek lives on campus and is also receiving the Army ROTC scholarship award. His bill and financial aid is as follows:

In the above example, Derek has a CR balance of $5,578 that is derived from institutional funds. In this case, Cedarville University will reduce the amount of the Dean's Excellence scholarship and/or Cedarville Fund Award to allow for housing and food to be covered 100 percent (aid will be reduced from $13,500 to $7,922). The Army ROTC student will also have an allowance toward books and supplies, and $420 housing allowance per month. If an outside scholarship is awarded to the student, Cedarville University will reduce additional amounts proportionally.

Example 2: Becky is awarded Cedarville University scholarships and grants that total $11,500. Becky lives off campus and is also receiving the Army ROTC award. Her bill and financial aid is as follows:

In the above example, Becky has a CR balance of $11,500 that is derived from institutional funds. In this case, Cedarville University will reduce the amount of the Faculty Excellence scholarship and/or Cedarville Fund Award since the student will not incur any additional University charges (aid will be reduced from $11,500 to $0). The Army ROTC student will have an allowance for books and supplies and receive $420 per month for living expenses. If an outside scholarship is awarded to the student, Cedarville University will reduce additional amounts proportionally.

Example 3: Curtis is awarded Cedarville University scholarships and grants that total $13,500. Curtis also receives an outside scholarship of $1,000. Curtis lives on campus and is also receiving the Air Force ROTC scholarship award. His bill and financial aid is as follows:

In the above example, Curtis has a balance of $7986 left to pay Cedarville University. The Air Force ROTC student will have up to $900 toward books and supplies and receive $300-500 per month for living expenses.
