Students Blessed by GMHC Conference
Students Blessed by GMHC Conference
The Global Mission Health Conference (GMHC), was an incredible experience again this year. This was my second time attending GMHC with our pharmacy students, and seeing the benefits of the conference each year is a blessing. Cedarville University has a vast presence at this conference, with many healthcare undergraduate and graduate students in attendance. In particular, the School of Pharmacy sends out our entire first-year pharmacy students to the conference each year. I have also had the privilege of connecting with alumni while at this conference. Gathering with like-minded believers who all have a heart to make a kingdom impact by using their gifts as healthcare professionals and students is something so powerful.
This conference encourages those on the mission field, but it also creates a stirring in the hearts of those whom the Lord has called into medical missions. One of my favorite aspects of the conference is watching students interact with mission agencies and seeing them return with an excitement to serve Christ all over the world. Each one of our pharmacy students are required to participate in a medical missions trip before graduating with their Pharm.D. I have the privilege of helping to coordinate some of these trips and interact with the mission agencies. Many of the connections and places we send our students have come from interactions our students have made at GMHC. One of our students recently shared with me, regarding an upcoming opportunity for a mission trip, "There was a talk at GMHC on substance use in the Middle East and it really touched my heart. I think I will apply."
GMHC not only impacts my heart for missions each year, but I know it continues to show its impact well beyond this weekend. Several of our alumni have attended this conference and decided years later to go into full-time medical missions. I have also interacted with students after the conference who have shared this confirmed their desire to be involved in missions in some capacity when they become a pharmacist one day.
We are excited to continue to see how the Lord uses this conference in the lives of all of the students from Cedarville University who attend each year. We pray for global transformation and for hearts ready to serve like Jesus.
