Cedarville University will host the Gospel at Work Conference at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13 inside the Jeremiah Chapel. The conference will feature Greg Gilbert and Sebastien Traeger, co-authors of “The Gospel at Work: How Working for King Jesus Gives Purpose and Meaning to our Jobs”.
The duo will teach on how the Gospel transforms the way Christians approach their jobs by discovering a work ethic rooted in serving Christ. In addition, both Gilbert and Traeger will speak at the University’s chapel as Gilbert will present on October 13 and Traeger on October 14.
“As a school that exists ‘For the Word of God and the Testimony of Jesus,’ we aim to prepare all of our students, regardless of their major, to go out into the world knowing their primary allegiance is to King Jesus and the authority of his Word,” said Cedarville president Dr. Thomas White.
The two authors teach how Christians commonly misunderstand God’s teaching about their jobs in two ways, either by being idle in their work or idolizing their careers. The conference aims to show that work is to be meaningful not because money or status, but through the Gospel of Jesus.
“I hope God uses Greg Gilbert and Sebastian Traeger to stir in our students' hearts how they can strategically using their God-given vocation for God's kingdom purposes,” said White.
Gilbert serves as Senior Pastor of Third Avenue Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky.. He is the author of several books including “What is the Gospel,” “Who is Jesus,” and “Why Trust the Bible.”
