Jordan Long, a third-year professional pharmacy student at Cedarville University will attend the 2015 American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) conference in San Francisco from October as a member of the Student Network Advisory Committee (SNAC).
The committee gives students an opportunity to sharpen their leadership skills, network with clinical pharmacy leaders and help implement new programs for students through the ACCP.
He is one of just 11 professional pharmacy students from across the nation to have a spot on the committee, which he earned after completing an intensive application process. He will meet his fellow committee members for the first time at the ACCP conference.
As part of the application process, Long completed an online form, submitted a letter of recommendation and wrote an essay explaining his interest in and qualifications for the committee.
“I will personally edit one of our bi-monthly newsletter releases, and I will also coordinate and evaluate the committee’s Facebook page for one month this year,” Long said.
In addition to earning a spot on the committee, Long also had the opportunity to intern with the American Pharmacists Association in Washington, D.C., over the summer, an experience that helped to open more doors.
“Whether it was working at my internship or serving on the advisory committee, I believe Cedarville has prepared me to think and work outside the norm by developing a diligent work ethic,” Long said. “I feel honored to have this leadership opportunity, and I look forward to my future with the ACCP and the advisory committee.”
