Cedarville University is the fifth most beautiful campus among all Christian colleges in the nation according to Christian Universities Online. Cedarville is the highest-ranked university in Ohio--Bluffton College (No. 24) and Mount Vernon Nazarene University (No. 46) were the only other Ohio universities on the list.
The ranking described Cedarville’s campus as being “set on a rural, 400 acre campus, the area has a classic college-town feel to it with a comfortable, natural setting.” The description also highlighted Cedar Lake and the compact, modern architectural style of the buildings.
In recent years, Cedarville has made extensive upgrades to its campus including an overhaul of its dining facilities, improvements to residence halls and the addition of on-campus townhomes for graduate students and upperclassmen.
The University also opened the state-of-the-art Health Sciences Center in 2012, which houses its school of nursing and school of pharmacy.
In 2016, several more projects will improve the look and feel of campus. In January, Cedarville will install a 4 foot by 6 foot LED marquee sign at the intersection of North Main Street and University Boulevard to better notify the public of events on campus.
In April, a major renovation of the Jeremiah Chapel will begin. The project was approved in October by the Board of Trustees and is slated to be finished before the 2016-17 academic year. The renovations include the installation of theater-style seating, as well as upgrades to video equipment.
Earlier this year, Christian Universities online ranked Cedarville as the top Christian college in Ohio and No. 24 in the nation based on student-faculty ratio, acceptance rates, financial aid and student retention rates.
Christian Universities Online used a unique methodology to compile its list. In order to be included, schools must be eligible members for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), as well as perform well in four areas including continuity of campus, architectural style, signature building(s) and natural setting.
