In June 2016 Engage Media Partners launched a free progressive web app called “The Pastor App.” Scott Mills, a 1992 graduate of Cedarville University and the founder of Engage Media Partners, created the app to provide encouragement to pastors and to help them in their ministry.
Through the app, pastors can connect and share stories with other pastors. They can discuss topics with other pastors, participate in polls and seek encouragement through the resources available in the app.
“We want this to be about lifestyle and encouragement,” Mills said. “Not how to do church.”
Content in the app is divided into 11 channels, such as encouragement, entertainment and leadership. Using their free account, pastors are able to choose which channels they want to see content from on their home screen.
Kara Gibbs, a 1996 graduate of Cedarville University, serves as content manager for The Pastor App. For each of the different channels, Gibbs researches and uploads various articles and videos for pastors to access.
“The main thing we want to do is have a place pastors can go to for encouragement,” Gibbs said. “That’s the main goal: encouragement.”
Gibbs and Mills hope that as The Pastor App continues to grow and develop, more pastors will hear about it and be able to use it as a resource for their personal lives. They also hope to work with contributors who will create exclusive content for the app to further benefit pastors who choose to use it.
Located in southwest Ohio, Cedarville University is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist institution with an enrollment of 3,760 undergraduate, graduate, and online students in more than 100 areas of study.
