Cedarville University students will hold an Italian dinner fundraiser Wednesday, Nov. 15 for service dog training organization 4 Paws for Ability. The dinner, which is open to the public, will take place 6-8 p.m. in Rooms 102 and 103 of the Center for Biblical and Theological Studies. Cost is $5 per person.
“Pupperoni Night” features an Olive Garden and Fazoli’s Italian buffet, trivia games with prizes and a 4 Paws trainer demonstration with a service dog. There will also be a litter of 4 Paws puppies to play with and a photo booth for taking pictures with the dogs.
The event is hosted each year by K9s at the Ville, a Cedarville student organization that works with 4 Paws to help train service dogs for veterans and children with disabilities. Students in the organization work together to socialize five leader dogs in training and to raise money for 4 Paws.
The group is known around campus for hosting “Pause for Paws” each year during finals week, when they bring a litter of 4 Paws puppies to campus as a break for students studying for exams. Their biggest fundraiser of the year is “Pupperoni Night.” All proceeds from the event go to 4 Paws.
“The reason I like 4 Paws so much is that they really work with families in need,” said Liz Coy, a senior communications major who has volunteered with K9s at the Ville since 2014. “They make sure every family that comes to them gets placed with a service dog that is specific to their child’s need and the different issues they’re working with.”
