One of the Best Schools for Studying the Bible

by Michaela Carpenter, Public Relations Writer

In a recent ranking by The Best Schools, Cedarville University was listed No. 7 among schools for students interested in studying the Bible. The university ranked near the top of a list of more than 1,000 Bible colleges in North America, in addition to numerous other schools with strong Bible programs.

The ranking included Bible schools that focus curriculum on studying and understanding the Bible and liberal arts Christian schools, which emphasize professional degree programs. Cedarville University is mentioned as one of the few schools that fits both of these criteria.

Other prominent institutions in the list's top 10 included Biola University, Moody Bible Institute, Grove City College, and Wheaton College.

Schools were ranked according to their commitment to sound Christian education, academic excellence, spiritual life on campus, Bible curriculum and accreditation.

Cedarville University’s required Bible minor is listed as a key factor in its high ranking, since it shows the university’s commitment to Scripture and strongly influences campus culture. Other points listed by The Best Schools included mandatory daily chapels, strong ethics code and ministry-intensive campus life.

"It is an honor to be recognized for Cedarville's historical commitment to the Bible,” said Dr. Jason Lee, dean of the school of biblical and theological studies. “The school of biblical and theological studies loves providing the Bible minor to all our undergraduate students. We are especially excited that this ‘Best Schools’ list focuses on the depth of Bible offerings.”

Lee noted that another distinctive of Cedarville University is its five-year B.A./M.Div. program, which provides training in preaching, biblical counseling and women’s ministry.

Located in southwest Ohio, Cedarville University is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist institution with an enrollment of 3,963 undergraduate, graduate, and online students in more than 150 areas of study. Founded in 1887, Cedarville is recognized nationally for its authentic Christian community, rigorous academic programs, strong graduation and retention rates, accredited professional and health science offerings, and leading student satisfaction ratings.
