For the second consecutive year, the partnership between Cedarville University’s School of Nursing and Dayeh University in Taiwan has brought four nursing students and a faculty member to Cedarville’s Greene County campus.
The visiting students and faculty member are part of Dayeh’s newly instituted nursing program, and they will participate in a cross-cultural observational experience with Cedarville’s School of Nursing during a four-week program spanning January 10 through February 12.
The program is meant to introduce the Taiwanese students to American culture and the role of nurses in the American health care system, as well as help them improve their spoken English. The group will also observe clinicals, attend nursing classes and daily university chapels and interview Cedarville’s nursing faculty.
“I want the students to not only gain valuable knowledge in their studies as nurses, but know Cedarville’s mission and why it exists,” said Dr. Chu-Yu Huang, professor of nursing and coordinator of the study abroad experience for Cedarville University. “I also want the Taiwan students and faculty member to see what Christian higher education looks like.”
Huang attributes the opportunity Cedarville has to influence these students to the hand of God.
“If it wasn’t for the Lord’s work in my life, I wouldn’t have the connections or resources to involve Cedarville in such an opportunity as this,” Huang explained.
Huang hopes the experience will result in additional opportunities for Cedarville to welcome students in study abroad experiences.
Located in southwest Ohio, Cedarville University is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist institution with an enrollment of 3,760 undergraduate, graduate, and online students in more than 100 areas of study.
