School of Pharmacy ranked one of the most affordable options among private universities

Cedarville University’s School of Pharmacy aims to keep tuition affordable for students pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.

And, based on numbers released by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the school is reaching its goal. Cedarville’s pharmacy program has the sixth-lowest tuition at a private university in the United States.

“We work diligently to be good stewards of tuition dollars, so we can provide the highest-quality education at the lowest cost,” said Marc Sweeney, Pharm.D., dean of the school of pharmacy.

Cedarville’s school of pharmacy tries to minimize the amount of debt that will follow its students by seizing every opportunity to keep tuition low, and the value of a Cedarville pharmacy education extends beyond the tuition dollars saved.

“When students come to Cedarville, they have the opportunity to learn how to integrate their Christian faith into the profession,” added Sweeney. “We have multiple opportunities for students to participate in cross-cultural missions, and we also provide many more research opportunities than similar institutions of our size. The school has won several awards for its research, service and exceptional faculty, demonstrating affordability with excellence.”

The accredited Pharm.D. program is designed to equip its students with the education and experience they need to best serve patients in a variety of pharmacy environments. Pharmacy students at Cedarville have access to an innovative curriculum, state-of-the-art facilities and numerous clinical experiences. Because of its small class sizes, student interaction and hands-on experience greatly enhance the educational experience.

The four-year professional curriculum requires 143 credit hours completed in semester terms. Cedarville offers the Pharm.D. in six-year or seven-year completion plans, which includes earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Pharmacy students at Cedarville can also take advantage of a Pharm.D./MBA dual degree program as well as a Spanish for healthcare professionals minor. Since 2016, the school of pharmacy has graduated more than 90 professional pharmacists.

Located in southwest Ohio, Cedarville University is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist institution with an enrollment of 3,963 undergraduate, graduate, and online students in more than 100 areas of study. Founded in 1887, Cedarville is recognized nationally for its authentic Christian community, rigorous academic programs, strong graduation and retention rates, accredited professional and health science offerings, and leading student satisfaction ratings.
