Cedarville has added a Graduate Certificate in Nursing Leadership to its Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) program offerings.
The new certificate was approved by Cedarville University’s Board of Trustees at its January meetings and recently received Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) and Higher Learning Commission (HLC) approvals.
Graduate certificates are master-level programs. The 4 courses typically take two semesters to complete or may be added to graduate coursework while enrolled in a graduate program, or taken after completion of an M.S.N. This new certificate joins the family of other nursing graduate certificates, which include Nursing Education and Global Public Health Nursing.

Graduate students who are in the M.S.N. program have the opportunity to select five different areas of focus, including Family and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Educator, Global Public Health Nursing and Nursing Leadership in Healthcare Improvement.
Students can add value to their M.S.N. program by selecting four additional courses to earn the specialized graduate certificates. “The Graduate Certificate in Nursing Leadership will prepare students to gain advanced knowledge in quality and safety, organizational systems, and strategic decision-making,” said Kim Higginbotham, assistant dean and director of graduate nursing programs, said. “Graduates will be equipped to effectively lead within a healthcare environment in roles such as nursing administration, nonprofit organization leadership and leadership in acute care and primary care settings.”
