Christmas and Cedarville alumna Donna VanLiere are virtually synonymous. This time of year is special for Donna and her husband, Troy, and their three children: Grace, Kate, and David. For Donna, Christmas time has unique connections in her life.
As a New York times and USA Today bestseller, many of Donna's novels have a Christmastime setting. Six of her books have made the transition to television, including The Christmas Shoes and The Christmas Blessing.
As much as she loves Christmas, Donna loves to share with others that the first advent was just the beginning. In her 2020 book, The Time of Jacob’s Struggle, she examined the Bible’s teaching on the Second Coming.
The past year and a half has been a time of increased anxiety in the world over COVID-19 and many other troubles. In the midst of these trials, Donna has found hope and comfort in the fact that God is still the keeper of promises made long, long ago. When Jesus said He would return, He meant it, and this should be the foundation for believers' security.
“Jesus said there would be pandemics, and there would be plagues,” Donna offers during the podcast. “But He also said, ‘When you see these things begin to happen, lift up your head, look up because your redemption is drawing near.’”
