One Thousand Days Transformed - The Campaign for Cedarville

by Ella Smith, Student Public Relations Writer

Cedarville students spend approximately 1000 Days as undergraduate students preparing for their future vocations and ministries. But the learning experience doesn’t end when they receive their degrees.

The opportunities extend throughout their lives, as evidenced by the upcoming Cedarville University Alumni Association’s “Jackets for Life” bus tour to Washington, D.C. from Sept. 3–7.

Washington Monument inf the fall from Potomac River 858The tour features excursions to several historical sites across the Mid-Atlantic, including the Flight 93 memorial a week before the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attack that brought down this plane in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The tour also includes stops at the Museum of the Bible, various Smithsonian museums, the United States Holocaust Museum, and the Capitol building. The tour is in partnership with Good Comma Classroom.

This tour is the first alumni trip hosted by Jackets for Life and is representative of its strategy to create alumni engagement and community. This specific trip will provide lifelong learning opportunities as the alumni re-connect through each adventure.

“I love the opportunity to reconnect or make new friendships with others who love Cedarville and have enjoyed being involved over the years,” said Cheryl Shupe, 1983 graduate of Cedarville and executive assistant to the vice president for business at Cedarville.

“Our goal for this trip is to engage in community as alumni and to continue learning,” said Diana Perkey, director of alumni engagement. “We want Cedarville to stay part of alumni’s lives even after their 1000 Days.”
