On select Saturdays, Cedarville University students set aside their packed schedules for something deeper — intentional conversations about faith, leadership and discipleship. Hosted by the Student Government Association (SGA), these monthly programs focus on relevant topics for young men and women and foster biblical wisdom, mentorship and community.
With coffee in hand, young men gather at 10 a.m. to engage in discussions led by pastors, professors and community leaders. Later, at 7 p.m., female students come together for an evening of candid conversations and biblical encouragement led by a panel of women. Through shared experiences, thought-provoking topics and spiritual mentorship, these events impact students beyond the classroom.
SGA chaplain Trey Storr and class council chaplains organize manhood events with the goal of discipling young men through wisdom and experience. Speakers range from faculty and staff members like Dr. Jason Lee, professor of theological studies, Dr. Jeremy Kimble, professor of systematic and applied theology, Dr. Matthew Bennett, associate professor of missions and theology and Dr. Thomas White, president of Cedarville University, to local church leaders. Each speaker addresses real-life issues from a biblical perspective.
The topics discussed in these events include the power of words, building healthy relationships, time management and biblical leadership. Each session offers space for students and leaders to be vulnerable and have transparent conversations.
To encourage further growth, students are provided with books and resources on each month’s theme.
The impact of the womanhood events goes beyond the panel — it’s about forging relationships that continue well after the events end.
“These gatherings help create a space where women can grow together in faith,” said Brianna Graham, senior women’s ministry leader. “I love that girls have a place to go where they can enjoy friendship and grow together as sisters in Christ.”
Modeled after the discipleship principles found in Titus 2, womanhood events provide a space for female students to learn from older woman who share wisdom from scripture and life experiences. Organized by the women’s ministry team, each event features a panel discussion on topics such as spiritual disciplines, biblical womanhood and godly relationships.
Manhood and Womanhood continue to shape the culture at Cedarville University, offering students an opportunity to be mentored, challenged and encouraged. As these events grow, they reinforce a vision of a campus united by faith, community and a desire to live out biblical truth in everyday life.
