Liberal Arts Program Highlights

Customized — As a liberal arts major, you will experience an innovative curriculum that is personalized to your interests and career goals. Choose from five concentration areas: philosophy and theology, fine arts, language and literature, science and math, and social science and history.

Personalized Education Plan — You will work closely with your faculty mentor to create an individualized education plan.

Travel Study — A required travel study experience will help you broaden your understanding of global issues and appreciation for different cultures as you live and learn in a different country.

What Can I Do With a BA in Liberal Arts Degree?

The major is designed for serious students who wish to grow academically in their understanding of the liberal arts as well as enhance their level of learning in all facets of life experiences. You will be prepared for further study in graduate school, law school, medical school, or seminary as well as for careers in education, library science, museums of art, music, natural history, government service, theatre production, sales, marketing, and local church ministry.

Graduates have pursued additional study at places such as Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, University of Buffalo, and the University of Virginia Medical School. Others have pursued positions in linguistics and TESOL living abroad.

Graduate and professional programs and employers welcome Cedarville University graduates each year. It is important to note that some professional career fields you may pursue require additional education, experience, and/or licensure beyond the completion of your Cedarville University undergraduate degree.

Opportunities to Learn Outside the Classroom

Honors Program — Many liberal arts majors also participate in the Honors Program at Cedarville. This program is specifically designed for a student who loves learning and discovering connections between various disciplines.

Student Organization — Tau Delta Kappa provides an opportunity for fellowship, ministry, exchange of ideas, and support of students involved in the honors program. TDK students also tutor school children in the Cedarville area.

Co-Curricular Activities — Co-curricular experiences like theatre, debate, Model U.N., and forensics teams allow liberal arts majors to apply their classroom experience practically.

Study Abroad — As a liberal arts major you will participate in a required study abroad experience ranging from Oxford University to the Christian music center in Australia. There are other programs in Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Jerusalem, and Cairo, Egypt. This is only a sample; the opportunities are nearly limitless!

Program Curriculum

Building on your core liberal arts and Bible minor courses, you will take Introduction to Liberal Arts and a choice of a core concentration out of five fields of study and complete a senior capstone project. Additionally, you will be required to study abroad for a semester, an opportunity that has been the highlight of the program for many of our students.
