Kyle Schick - 2013 Cedarville Grad
Cedarville University is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
Kyle Schick ’13 is currently pursing a master’s degree in music performance from the University of Maryland. He has received full tuition remission through his graduate assistantship in production with the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. As a production coordinator for the Center, Kyle supports hundreds of events for the UMD School of Music as well as visiting national and international artists. He also performs as a multi-woodwind player in the top UMD jazz band and wind orchestra as well as in freelance engagements in the DC metro area. As a music teacher Kyle took a part-time position at the Potomac School in McLean VA as a jazz instructor and also teaches a small number of students out of his home.
Kyle recalls, “The mentoring relationships I enjoyed with professors at Cedarville are my most treasured memories of my undergrad education and a rare quality in higher education. To study with professors who tailor their teaching styles and repertoire to shape their students’ unique talent is an exceptional experience. Even more exceptional are professors who train their students holistically into men and woman established in their faith and prepared to face the challenges of their professional and personal life. I have found the training I received at Cedarville as a multi-woodwind player sets me apart from many of my peers. I am equally comfortable in a jazz or rock band as I am in a symphony orchestra. It is that versatility that has opened many professional opportunities as a performer and as a teacher I would never have seen had professors not been attentive to my unique needs.” Kyle Schick ‘13
