Biography

Lou Lilite has served since August 2023 as Professor of Music and Director of Vocal Studios at Cedarville University. Previously, he spent 15 years at Oklahoma Baptist University, where he received the University’s Distinguished Teaching Award in May 2016. He previously received his doctorate from Eastman School of Music in 2008, an MM in voice performance and pedagogy from The Pennsylvania State University in 2002, and a BM degree from Biola University in 1999.

Lilite has taught, lectured, and coached in the United States and overseas in private lessons, masterclasses, seminars, and summer workshops. He has also served as an adjudicator for the Phyllis Triolo Competition and for regional and district auditions for the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). An avid supporter of chamber music, some of his favorite performances include Poulenc's Tel jour, telle nuit, Ravel's Chansons Madécasses, Vaughan Williams' Four Hymns, and John Corigliano's Three Irish Folksong Settings.

Dr. Lilite is a seasoned performer known as a recitalist, soloist, and collaborative pianist. Among his honors are the 2013 Provost Award of Excellence, the 2009–2010 Promising Teacher Award, and the Seven Who Care Award. Lilite has performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Eastman-Rochester Orchestra, the Pennsylvania Consort, the Sainte Trinité Orchestra, and the Biola Conservatory Orchestra in Shostakovich’s Concerto in C minor for piano, trumpet, and string orchestra.

The Lord brought me to Cedarville for reasons He knows best. Since arriving here, I have been blessed to see a thriving community, to partake in a fellowship of scholars and artists who take the Bible and their craft seriously. What a blessing to witness God's hand moving so palpably in our midst!
