2019 Highlights of the Year
Residency Rate Higher Than National Average
The 2019 Cedarville University School of Pharmacy doctoral candidates for 2019 have a residency program match rate of 80%, far surpassing the national average of 64%.
Partnership Will Explore New Horizons for Pharmacists and Patients
Cedarville University’s Center for Pharmacy Innovation, the Ohio Pharmacists Foundation (OPF) and the Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) began a groundbreaking partnership to advance the expanding role of the pharmacist in American health care.
Business of Disrupting Healthcare Conference
The School of Pharmacy, along with the School of Business Administration and The Graduate School, hosted the “Business of Disrupting Healthcare” one-day conference on October 4.
New Director of Pharmacy for Cedar Care
Stacy Cody became the new Director of Pharmacy for Cedar Care Village Pharmacy on August 13.
National Town Hall on the Opioid Crisis Held at Cedarville
Cedarville hosted a town hall addressing the national opioid epidemic, welcoming politicians, healthcare professionals, and first responders to discuss this important topic.

Why do you enjoy precepting?
Precepting fulfills my duty to give back to the profession. I stand on the shoulders of giants and have a responsibility to prepare the next generation of pharmacists. I’ve really enjoyed the relationships
I’ve made through being an APPE preceptor. It gives me accountability to keep practicing at the “top of my license.”
What is your teaching philosophy?
Titus 2:7-9 says “Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may
be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us”. Great teachers serve others with a combination of compassion and competency.
"Nick Wolters has been a pleasure to work with as a good friend of the School and, most importantly, as a preceptor to our students. Nick has served as a preceptor since 2016, teaching students critical knowledge and skills to care for patients on the Internal Medicine unit. Nick has an innovative mind always thinking ahead to improve patient care. He currently focuses on care transitions for discharge patients where he looks to involve students in practice and showing the importance of continuity of care. Thank you Nick for all you do to serve our profession and School well!"

Cedarville pharmacy students partnered with local police for the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
Hopefest Spotlights Recovery in Xenia
Cedarville University’s Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) participated in HopeFest at the Shawnee Park Pavilion in Xenia, Ohio.
Blood Pressure and Glucose Screenings at Health Fair
Cedarville University’s chapter of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) helped at the Community Health Foundation (CHF) Health Expo.
Area Colleges Come Together to Advance Medical Teamwork
Students from Cedarville’s Schools of Pharmacy and Nursing and the social work department participated alongside students from Wright State University and University of Dayton (UD) during an interprofessional education (IPE) event.

Pharmacy Students Make Impressive Showing
Three Cedarville University pharmacy students demonstrated their competency at the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Clinical Research Challenge by placing third at the 82-team competition.
Pharmacy Student Named to National Post
Elizabeth Wandling, third-year professional pharmacy student from Davenport, Washington, has been named the new national project coordinator on the International Standing Committee with the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP).
Student Named to National Clinical Pharmacy Committee
Martha Morton, a third-year professional pharmacy student was named a member-at-large for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) National Student Advisory Committee.

Vaccinate: Yes or No? Research to Help Parents Decide
Two professors conducted research into published studies about how parents make decisions about vaccinating their children.
Building Bones: Partnering With Orthopedics Implants Company
Tangible Solutions, Inc. and Cedarville University’s schools of engineering and pharmacy have partnered to further develop 3D-printing titanium technology for the orthopedics industry.
Professor Receives Research Training
Dr. David Peters completed the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Academy for Research and Scholarship.
Other faculty accomplishments include:
- Dr. Bethany Sibbitt was appointed chair of the Communications Standing Committee for the American Pharmacists Association - New Practitioner Network.
- Dr. Zach Jenkins was selected as the 2018-2019 AACP Teacher of the Year.
- Dr. David Peters completed ASHP Critical Care Traineeship.
- Dr. Juanita Draime received the 2020 Clinical Research Paper Award from APhA.

Alumna Lands Pharmacy Entrepreneurship Fellowship
Dr. Myriam Shaw Ojeda has been named the first fellow in the Ohio Pharmacists Association Center for Entrepreneurship Fellowship.
The DNA of Medical Effectiveness
Dr. Ryley Uber has been studying how genes affect a person’s response to certain drugs, otherwise known as pharmacogenomics. The new field combines the study of drugs (pharmacology) with the study of genes (genomics).
“It is incredible to hear how much the School of Pharmacy has grown since I graduated only a few years ago, but it is a testament to the hard work and dedication invested into the program on a daily basis. I sometimes reflect on my journey through pharmacy school / postgraduate training and think how useful it would’ve been to have had access to alumni who had gone through the same experiences, given advice, or answered tough questions. Being the first graduating class, we did not have anyone who could fill that role for us, which is why I’m happy to take on that responsibility now, along with many fellow alumni. As our alumni core continues to increase, consider how your involvement could foster growth and present new opportunities for the pharmacy program going forward. This could range from simply sharing how you are positively impacting pharmacy practice near you, to opting-in for the Alumni Google Pin Map (cedarville.edu/SoPpinmap) for student mentorship opportunities, or becoming involved with the Alumni Council.
