One Thousand Days Transformed - The Campaign for Cedarville

State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA)

The U.S. Department of Education amended licensure notification requirements, 34 CFR 668.43(a)(5)(v) and 34 CFR 668.43(c) that took effect on July 1, 2024. Colleges and universities are responsible for providing licensure notifications to students to inform them of the educational requirements needed to obtain a professional license or certification and their institution’s ability to provide those requirements to students. Each state and licensed profession has different requirements, and it is important for students to be informed about those requirements before enrolling in a professional licensure program. This transparency of an institution’s ability to offer the requirements that lead to licensure in each state helps students make informed decisions regarding their education.

Licensure programs at Cedarville are designed to meet Ohio’s educational requirements. However, students desiring to work in other states, or students desiring to enroll in online programs, may need additional information regarding educational requirements for licensure programs. Cedarville’s licensure programs are listed below.

  • MBA - Accounting Concentration
  • BS in Accounting
    • With Cedarville University's 128-credit hour B.S. in Accounting degree you can pursue a variety of accounting careers that do not require a CPA license. However, the degree program is the first step in obtaining a license as a CPA. Additional coursework will need to be completed to meet the educational requirements to sit for the Ohio CPA exam. Therefore, the Robert W. Plaster School of Business offers a 22-credit hour CPA concentration in additional to the base 128-hour B.S. in Accounting degree, which reflects the State of Ohio requirements of 150 semester hours of undergraduate or graduate courses.

The degree plus concentration includes 30 hours of accounting courses along with several specific business and elective courses. Completing the 128-credit hour Bachelor of Science in Accounting along with the additional 22 hours of coursework outlined in the CPA concentration meets the educational prerequisites to sit for the CPA exam within the State of Ohio.

  • Engineering
    • It is important to note that some professional engineering career fields require additional education, experience, and/or licensure beyond the completion of your Cedarville University undergraduate degree. These programs prepare you to sit for both the Fundamentals of Engineering and the Principles and Practice of Engineering exams.

Additional Information

If you are an online student residing outside of the State of Ohio, and Cedarville University’s particular program does not meet all the educational prerequisites for professional licensure within your state, there may be another option. If you plan to practice or seek licensure in a different state, where the program does meet the educational requirements for licensure, you may submit a formal attestation to that effect to pursue your chosen program.
