Today's Alumni Week chapel speaker is Dr. Jim Phipps, Professor Emeritus at Cedarville University. Dr. Phipps shares his testimony of God's leading in his life, and invites us to see Him working in our daily lives.

Celebrating Dr. Jim Phipps: A Cedarville Legacy
Dr. Jim Phipps, a proud Cedarville University alumnus, has dedicated an impressive 52 years to the institution, profoundly impacting its community and shaping the next generation of leaders. Raised as a missionary kid in a stable family, Dr. Phipps faced moments of doubt in his faith. However, his time at Cedarville addressed his doubts and deepened his faith and commitment to serving others.
His journey at Cedarville was full of interventions by the Lord, even down to a blown tire that led to insurance money covering his first term. He not only pursued his education but also met his future wife during his time at Cedarville, solidifying his lifelong connection to the University. His journey as a student reinforced his belief that God orchestrates events at just the right time and place. When he returned as a professor in the communication department, he emphasized to his students the importance of building trust with others to effectively share Christ’s message with them. Dr. Phipps has also brought his passion for broadcasting to Cedarville, where he served as the voice of Cedarville basketball for 35 years.
Throughout the years, Dr. Phipps has witnessed Cedarville’s remarkable growth, reflecting on how his own family — two daughters, one son, and eight grandchildren — has flourished alongside the University. He has been blessed with countless opportunities, consistently affirming that God works in our daily lives to prepare us for future challenges.
Dr. Phipps’s story serves as an inspiring reminder that even in moments of struggle, God has a purpose for everyone. He encourages everyone to look back and recognize the influence in their lives that led them to where they are today. Through his unwavering dedication to Cedarville and his faith, Dr. Phipps continues to inspire all who cross his path.
