Video: Discipling Christian PAs in Biblical Truth
What makes the PA program at Cedarville University so distinct? Watch the short video below and hear an engaging discussion with Jason Grahame, Director of the PA program, about the program's biblical basis, discipleship focus, and emphasis on preparing students to show the love of Christ to their patients.
Cedarville's Master of Medical Science in PA Studies program enrolled its first cohort of students in May 2023. This program prepares students for the #1 healthcare profession in the U.S. with thorough classroom instruction, varied clinical rotations, and intentional discipleship from the institution's Christian faculty members. Cedarville's PA program is provisionally accredited by the ARC-PA.
DISCUSSION RECAP:
What makes the PA program at Cedarville University so distinct? The PA program at Cedarville is the only program out there that is training solely Christian students. There are religiously based institutions across the United States, but Cedarville is the first and only seeking to equip and disciple the next generation of Christian PAs.
What does it mean to disciple our students? Cedarville's PA faculty are trying to grow a group of future professionals who can care for their patients not just from a medical or psychological standpoint, but from a spiritual standpoint. Scripture tells us that people are not just autonomous bodies. They have a spiritual component that the medical field often overlooks or leaves unaddressed.
How do we train our students to address patients' spiritual needs? We seek to take students who are already thinking from a biblical worldview and coming in with Christian faith and to train them how to think about medicine from a biblical perspective. They will graduate from Cedarville seeing their patients as more than just a problem to be solved; they'll view their patients as individuals to love and care for and introduce to Jesus Christ.
