Video: Holistic Care Based on the Truth of Scripture

How does the PA program at Cedarville University teach future physician assistants to provide holistic care? Watch the short video below and hear an engaging discussion with Jason Grahame, Director of the PA program, about how Christians can provide holistic care based on the truth of God's Word, addressing patients' spiritual as well as physical needs.

Cedarville's Master of Medical Science in PA Studies program enrolled its first cohort of students in May 2023. This program prepares students for the #1 healthcare profession in the U.S. with thorough classroom instruction, varied clinical rotations, and intentional discipleship from the institution's Christian faculty members. Cedarville's PA program is provisionally accredited by the ARC-PA.

DISCUSSION RECAP:

In the modern medical field, there is a lot of talk about holistic care. When we talk about holistic care from a Christian perspective, we can base our care off of the truth of Scripture, which the secular world doesn't have. Much of the secular world is trying to talk about spirituality without the understanding or experience of what that even means, whereas we have the truth of God's Word to back up what we're saying and doing.

Holistic care doesn't necessarily mean that we're evangelizing every patient in every encounter. It simply means that we're loving people the way Christ would love them. We're trying to open up doors to introduce them to biblical truths that may be influencing their lives or could influence their lives to help them with their health.
