One Thousand Days Transformed - The Campaign for Cedarville

Serve in chapel by using your God-given talents to lead the student body in praise to the Lord. Chapel has always been the heartbeat of Cedarville's campus. Each day, students gather together to be challenged and encouraged by the Word of God through both preaching and song.

Chapel Bands are student-led, volunteer worship teams that seek to help the Cedarville chapel community remember and respond to the Gospel through music. Not only will you serve your campus community and grow as a musician, but you’ll also be challenged to follow Christ wholeheartedly and worship Him genuinely.

Who Can Audition?

Any full-time student — undergraduate or graduate — can audition for Chapel Bands! You don't need to be a worship major; in fact, approximately half of our chapel band members come from other majors across campus.

What's It Like To Be in a Chapel Band?

Typically, you’ll rehearse with your team once a week for one to two hours. There are four chapel bands that rotate through leading worship, so your team will likely lead music in chapel five to seven times throughout each semester. To get to know each other better, some chapel band teams also connect outside of this time for team dinners and other get-togethers!

How and When Do I Audition?

Applications open each year beginning in July and close midway through August. To audition, you’ll complete an application and submit an audition video for the instrument(s) you’re auditioning for. In-person callbacks take place during Getting Started. Finally, teams will be chosen during the first week back on campus.

What's the Difference Between Chapel Bands and HeartSong?

  • Chapel Bands serve during the 10 a.m. chapel hour on Cedarville’s campus, while HeartSong Ministries is made up of four traveling worship teams that serve throughout the year at conferences, camps, schools, and churches. HeartSong travels on weekends during the school year and for 10 weeks during the summer.
  • Chapel Bands are volunteer-based, while HeartSong is a compensated role.
  • Both Chapel Bands and HeartSong are ministries of Cedarville's Student Life and Christian Ministries Division.
