With an auditorium filled to capacity with students, alumni, campus staff and guests, Cedarville University inaugurated Thomas White, Ph.D., as its 10th president on Friday, Oct. 4. The ceremony, filled with worship music and inspiring comments from a long list of dignitaries, was highlighted by a thought-provoking inaugural address from Dr. David Jeremiah, son of former Cedarville president Dr. James T. Jeremiah and a current member of the Board of Trustees.
The ceremony was held in the Dixon Ministry Center and included roles for Cedarville’s two chancellors—Dr. Paul H. Dixon and Dr. William E. Brown. Dixon welcomed the audience and recognized honored guests while Brown read scripture.
Prior to James Hilton, Ph.D., Lead Pastor at The Journey at First Baptist Church in Orange City, FL, offering a prayer of dedication for Dr. White and Stephanie Armstrong, a personal friend of the White’s praying for Joy White, the new president ceremonially signed the University’s doctrinal statement. This is the first time in University history that a president has signed the doctrinal statement during an inauguration ceremony.
Following the ceremony, a special presidential lunch for the president and invited guests was held in the Stevens Student Center.
