‘Behind the Faces’ Showcases Student Stories

by Rae McKee, Public Relations Writer

Cedarville University’s Student Government Association Campus Community (SGACC) is working to connect Cedarville students through storytelling. In its upcoming project “Behind the Faces,” SGACC will be highlighting students and sharing their stories on its Facebook page starting November 20.

The Campus Community Committee will interview students from all areas of study during the 2015-16 academic year. An excerpt of the interviews, along with a photo, will be placed on SGACC’s “Behind the Faces” Facebook page to share students’ unique stories with their peers.

The main goal of SGACC is to help students learn about other individuals’ stories and create a stronger, more honest community. SGACC wants to give students a larger outlet where they can communicate their struggles and victories, so that other students can come alongside them during those times, as instructed in Romans 12:15:

“Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep” (NASB).

SGACC Director Rahul Jacobs, junior marketing major from Chicago, Illinois, believes that the project will help students accept and love one another better.

“Everyone is made up of experiences that make up who they are today,” said Jacobs. “However, students will put on a face of neutrality so that nobody else knows what is going on. Our hope is that this project will break down the walls we put around ourselves.”

Cedarville University is an accredited, Christ-centered, Baptist institution with an enrollment of 3,711 undergraduate, graduate and online students in more than 100 areas of study.
