Liberal arts majors at Cedarville University, while extremely well trained, know they face a very competitive job market upon graduation. Cedarville’s career services gave an added boost to their job hunting efforts with the hiring of Taylor Phillips, a 2015 Cedarville linguistics alumna, who is serving as the new liberal arts liaison.
Hired in May 2017, Phillips’ job is to tailor the already-existing tools from career services to each liberal arts student. She hopes to help students plan a customized path to their dream job, whether they are pursuing literature, theater, graphic design, studio art or language.
“This new position makes our school stand out,” said Phillips. “As a smaller school, this is a great resource we offer to all types of students. This new position shows that we are thinking about and paying attention to students going into all fields. It shows we are thinking about the future and long-term investment.”
“We're here to assist all Cedarville University students,” said Jeff Reep, director of career services. “Many times I believe our faculty and students don't realize the services we offer. We want students to be aware of the services provided and the value of utilizing those services.”
Phillips is excited to be in a position to help liberal arts majors prepare for a successful future. “I have been where many of these students are and hope to share what I have learned,” said Phillips. “I want to use this job to make a difference.”
